Weekend - Bakti Program

On Saturday 21st May 2010, i was in SK Felcra Nasaruddin for BAKTI program. It's a charity program to develop and boost the children of standard 4&5 in realizing the importance of creative thinking and communication skills. This school is chosen because of the area (rural-village) and less fortune in getting expose to the modern development in education.

Approximately 60 students involved in this program. Boys and girls in the village who comes from various background. Two main activities conducted were the "Family Tree" and "Mother/Father's Day".

What i realized throughout the session was that children nowadays, they tend to forget to know their grandparents names. Hahahha..majority of the students know their grandparents names as "ATUK" and "OPAH". Very few know the actually name of their grandparents. It makes me realise that i myself also tend to figure out what is my grandparent's name. Luckily, i still can recalled. We always take things for granted ya..Simple thing but yet it is soo meaningful...

Talking about the children, they seem to be talkative and open if we know how to be part of them. They want to share their stories and they want their ideas to be heard. My duty was easy since i only need to break the ice and the rest, they can do it by them selves. I just get to know that they are the 3rd generation of FELCRA community in this village.

We finished at 1 pm and i drove back home. The only thing in my head was, my pillow and turned on my fan to the max. And , i DID it...haha

At night, i just wasted my time loitering in Manjung. Surprisingly, Manjung now is lot more different. Went to Marina island, and i could see the teenagers now has got a new "port" to be with their friends. Stayed there until 3 am in the morning and headed back after being so sleepy...

What a weekend..simple but OK...
